{"id":1913,"date":"2020-09-09T14:52:32","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T12:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=366758"},"modified":"2020-09-09T14:52:32","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T12:52:32","slug":"telkom-appoints-new-board-directors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interwebdev.co.za\/index.php\/2020\/09\/09\/telkom-appoints-new-board-directors\/","title":{"rendered":"Telkom appoints new board directors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Telkom-office-mockup-logo.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Telkom has announced changes to its Board of Directors in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sharenet.co.za\/v3\/sens_display.php?tdate=20200909120300&amp;seq=41&amp;scode=TKG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>notice to shareholders<\/strong><\/a> published on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Independent non-executive directors Santie Botha and Khanyisile Kweyama will retire from the board with effect from 25 September and 31 December 2020, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>They are set to be replaced by Alphonzo Samuels and Hemmanth Singh, who will take up their respective posts as non-executive director and independent non-executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Singh will begin his tenure on 25 September 2020, while Samuels will start his term on 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Samuels previously helmed Telkom\u2019s Technology and Openserve leadership team for six years, before his retirement on 31 March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom noted that he holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the University of South Africa (Unisa) and is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years\u2019 experience in the telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n<p>He also completed an Executive Development Program and a Program for Enterprise Leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is well positioned to help companies and boards understand information communication technology, digital transformation and its immense opportunities to improve the sustainability of businesses,\u201d Telkom said.<\/p>\n<p>Herman Singh holds an MBA, BSc. Mechanical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma, Industrial Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is an innovative business thinker and a high impact player with a mix of business technology, leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
