{"id":1601,"date":"2020-09-04T09:48:06","date_gmt":"2020-09-04T07:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=366170"},"modified":"2020-09-04T09:48:06","modified_gmt":"2020-09-04T07:48:06","slug":"qualcomm-to-launch-5g-chips-for-cheap-smartphones-in-early-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interwebdev.co.za\/index.php\/2020\/09\/04\/qualcomm-to-launch-5g-chips-for-cheap-smartphones-in-early-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Qualcomm to launch 5G chips for cheap smartphones in early 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/interwebsa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/qualcomm-to-launch-5g-chips-for-cheap-smartphones-in-early-2021-1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Qualcomm has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualcomm.com\/news\/releases\/2020\/09\/03\/qualcomm-scales-5g-snapdragon-4-series-mobile-platforms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a><\/strong> that it will launch Snapdragon 4-series chips with 5G support in early 2021.<\/p>\n<p>It noted that the 5G Qualcomm Snapdragon 4-series chips will allow smartphone makers to offer 5G to a combined market of approximately 3.5 billion smartphone users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQualcomm continues to pave the way for 5G commercialization at scale,\u201d said Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Snapdragon 4-series 5G Mobile Platform is designed to exceed expectations for the mass-market segment by bringing an assortment of predominately high- and mid-tier features to a broader audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will deliver on the promise of making 5G accessible to all smartphone users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 4-series Snapdragon chips will join the following Qualcomm chips in the company\u2019s line-up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 690<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 and 765G<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 855<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 865<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Smartphone brands that have noted their interest in these Snapdragon 4-series chipsets include Motorola, Oppo, and Xiaomi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the extension of Qualcomm Technologies\u2019 5G Mobile Platform into the Snapdragon 4-series, we are positioned to deliver a more complete portfolio of 5G devices to our consumers, emphasizing our leadership in the 5G space,\u201d said Motorola president Sergio Buniac.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very happy that Qualcomm Technologies is scaling 5G technology to the Snapdragon 4-series.
